Where and how are Goldshield products manufactured?

Goldshield products are manufactured in the USA at an FDA-certified pharmaceutical facility in a "clean room" environment to assure no product contamination. All protocols followed in our operations are those set by the demandingly strict International Organization for Standardization

What is Goldshield’s Surface Antimicrobial “active ingredient”?

Goldshield's Surface Antimicrobial is a water-stable liquid solution that uses an organosilane as the “active” agent that, through the use of additional chemistry, was able to be stabilized in water. The chemistry eluded the industry for over 25 years.

What is Goldshield's Surface Antimicrobial's Environment Protection Agency ("EPA") toxicity rating?

This product has been identified by the EPA to have a toxicity rating of 4 (IV), which requires only the following precautionary statement on our labels: “Keep Out of Reach of Children”. Goldshield is the World's only water-stable, patented, functional organosilane technology with a surface penetrating compound.

Where can Goldshield's Surface Antimicrobial be used?

Goldshield is approved to be used in facilities such as homes, hospitals, daycare centers, churches, offices and hotels and restaurants. This is so because Goldshield is water-based, no alcohol, non-flammable

How has the Company proven their claims of performance?

The Company has amassed over 35+ evidenced-based studies - all conducted by independent laboratories, and has received two peer-review publications in The American Journal of Infection Control.

Can Goldshield's Surface Antimicrobial be applied to textiles?

Yes, in both a commercial laundry and when doing laundry at home. Goldshield is added in the rinse cycle after scouring, and when applied under Goldshield recommended specifications, will remain effective for 90 days of the once-treated fabric

What detergent should I use when I wash my clothes with Goldshield?

We recommend any "nonionic or cationic" detergent which is easily available at any large grocery store (check out the label). Just review the label of active ingredients on your home detergent.

Is Goldshield flammable like the other, often older, organosilane formulas?

No, since it is water-based, GS is not flammable.

What is the shelf life of Goldshield products?

Under the Company’s recommended storage directions, GS remains effective for up to 1.5 years, but in study after study we know GS remains stable for a lot longer

When Goldshield is applied to glass or marble is there any visible coating?

There can be a slight white film that becomes visible which is created by the silane of the Goldshield formula. To remove it all you do is take a damp cloth and wipe off the film, doing so will NOT remove Goldshield's active ingredient

When I spray Goldshield on a surface how long should I wait before removing moisture?

You want to be sure that Goldshield 5 or 75 has a chance to fully bond to the surface, so we recommend that you spray your room, contents and surfaces and then circle back (20-30 minutes) and remove any moisture with an absorbent cloth. Doing so will NOT remove any of Goldshield's active ingredient.

Why is Goldshield 24 better than alcohol-based products?

Alcohol-based products like the leading brand evaporate quickly after application (8-10 seconds). When your hands are dry, alcohol loses 100% of its killing action. There is no residual killing protection with alcohol-based products, so multiple re-applications are necessary (nurses in hospitals often apply 50 times a day) causing skin dryness and cracking. Alcohol is toxic and flammable as well. By comparison Goldshield 24 is water-based and offers 24 hours residual antiseptic and antimicrobial protection that actually leaves the skin feeling soft, not red and cracked. Goldshield is safe for kids and non-flammable.

Why do so many other hand sanitizers use alcohol?

It's very inexpensive that's why. In fact it's the cheapest antibacterial agent on the market. One can buy rubbing alcohol for 50 cents a bottle retail so imagine what the cost is at wholesale in large quantities.

Is there any problem associated with repeated use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers?

Yes, in fact there is. Repeated use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers actually increases the risk of exposure to germs because alcohol causes the skin to become dry/irritated/cracked which is akin to a cracked windshield; the pesky germs slip through the cracks as easily as tiny bugs squeeze through a cracked windshield. This is true because alcohol strips away the body's natural surface oils thus leaving the skin dry and unprotected. Simply adding a moisturizer into an alcohol-based sanitizer does NOT replenish these natural body oils as many claim. Goldshield's water-based hand sanitizer does not cause these hand irritations and natural body oil loss problems.

Is Goldshield24 better than soap?

Independent lab tests have demonstrated that Goldshield 24’s active ingredient is more effective against a broad spectrum of viruses and bacteria than antimicrobial active ingredients found in soap. That said we believe that washing hands with soap and water is the first line of defense against bacteria. But, when we find ourselves in situations where washing with soap and water isn't convenient, Goldshield 24 is the answer

How often should Goldshield 24 be used?

Once is all that’s needed because Goldshield has hours of residual protection. However, we recommend a "wash-dry-and-apply" regimen. So, during the day when you wash and dry your hands, applying Goldshield 24 is added protection, plus your hands will stay soft, not red and cracked

Will Goldshield 24 stain floors, carpets, fabrics, jewelry or other surfaces?

Not at all. Goldshield will NOT stain floors, carpets, fabrics or jewelry. It won’t even cause nail polish to be removed. By comparison, it’s well known in the healthcare industry, that alcohol-based hand sanitizers, when dripped on the floor, actually cause floor wax to disintegrate creating a nutrient field that allows bacteria to grow.
